Squeaky Volvo Penta KAMD300

What is it with our Walton-On-The-Naze branch and stray animals? First an eel and now a mouse? It sounded just like a nervous mouse had become trapped under the valve cover of this Volvo Penta KAMD300, and if it wasn’t a real mouse then it was doing a pretty good impression.
Steve Backshall had a prior engagement and isn’t well known for his marine engineering skills so it was left up to our Tom Davey to search for rodents.
No mice were found but the pushrod was as dry as a bone and the adjuster was also very worn.
Unfortunately the squeaking was a direct result of the lack of valve adjustment at the required service intervals.
The moral of this story is to get your valves checked before a hoard of mice wearing clogs move into your engine and then hey presto, before you know it you have to invite Steve Backshall round for a cheese fondue and a crispy baguette.
