Corroded Transom And Drive. Stern Fiberglass And Plate Repairs On A Regal Ambassador

The intrinsic problem with boats is an obvious one, they get wet. Often soaked in brine for years like a good ham, then dried with a heady combination of mother nature’s finest elements, corrosion keeps marine engineers off the streets. Phew.

Our Walton-on-the-Naze branch have been dealing with a seriously corroded transom and drive unit on a 23ft Regal Ambassador.

This is an area in which team Walton are highly skilled as you can see from the graphic photography.

After removing the engine and transom assembly, a new plate was installed along with fibreglass repairs to the body of the stern.

Once completed, the MerCruiser 5.7lt engine had a new alpha one sterndrive and transom installed, the engine also underwent a service.

Everything has been fitted and supplied by French Marine Motors.

When the vessel was relaunched, the customer and sea trials confirmed it was a job well done...and thus the cycle of life, for a salt water marinated drive and transom, begins again.
