Yamaha F25 AET Outboard Won’t Start

This Yamaha F25 AET we’ve ironically nicknamed ‘Sparky’, because not a flash of a spark was in sight, not even an incy wincy one.

We scratched our heads with this troublesome outboard, but finally Ross solved the ongoing dilemma.

The coil pack wires had seriously corroded, the magnets on the flywheel were also no longer bonded. This in turn caused damage to the Starter under the flywheel. That alone was enough to cause problems and then he discovered the pulser coil had broken down internally. Poor old Sparky.

All of the offending parts were replaced, a whole new ignition system in fact. Then at last...Ta da! Sparky lives!
