Sometimes buying a boat can be a tricky business, fraught with unforeseen or unexpected surprises that can rear their heads from the cold dark waters, a bit like the Loch Ness Monster with a saildrive.
A boat lift was arranged at a Marina in Kent for this Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 439, to catch the beast responsible for the loss in drive. After seeing the 4JHSE Yanmar engine with it’s SD50 saildrive, all became as clear as a crystal, Scottish Loch.

Simon then opened a Pandora’s box, which led to vanished seals, the removal of the drive assembly and a full engine service.
With the new feathering propeller on its way, the beast was eventually tamed and will be returned to its habitat unharmed.
