Yanmar 3YM20 Vibrating Engine On A Beneteau 323

There’s no point denying, Gaffer tape holds together the fabric of the Universe.

What with that, a handy, squirty sized lubricant and a life times supply of cheese, engineers want for nothing.

At roughly 2000rpm, this Yanmar 3YM20 had serious vibrations, and they weren’t good ones. The weird thing was, if the Beneteau 323, was slammed into reverse then immediately straight back into forward, the issue eased momentarily.

Simon checked the alignment of the engine and he could also see the engine mounts were not doing their job correctly, the port aft mount looked particularly dodgy.

What’s a marine engineer to do when no man-made implement will hit the spot and reach those tricky, hard to reach, mount fixings? Gaffer tape the new stainless steel nut, to your chipolata finger of course!

Hope he washed that finger with Swarfega, before he ate his pork pie.
