Volvo Penta MD2040 Engine Fail Onboard A Malö 40

An international gentleman was left unintentionally adrift, when his Volvo Penta MD2040 engine onboard his Malö 40, failed at sea.

Bummer.

Ross removed the cylinder head from the engine after discovering two snapped valve springs. As a consequence of this, the valve itself had become detached which caused distortion.

The cylinder head had to be rebuilt with a new valve and corresponding springs. This travelling artisan was understandably over the moon to return to his adventures.

Nice when a customer becomes a friend.
