MerCruiser 5.7LX Starting Motor Meltdown

It’s true we’ve had a heatwave this summer but I’m not sure it was quite hot enough to melt the starting motor on a MerCruiser 5.7LX... or was it?
Simon was head surgeon performing this particular investigation into the engines breakdown.
After carrying out the carburettor autopsy he carefully removed a selection of electrical components and vital organs including the faulty melted starting motor, understandably the customer had desperately wanted it to be ok and the continued attempt to start it had unfortunately caused the final meltdown.

He also attended to the fuel system which needed a complete service, all expertly delivered by Simons confident bedside manner.
